DC Shiba Inu Rescue (DCSIR) es un grupo de voluntarios dedicados cuya misión es rescatar, acoger, atender a veterinarios y entrenar a Shiba Inu abandonados, sin hogar y callejeros. También trabaja con los dueños que entregan a sus perros para ayudarles a mantenerlos en su hogar actual o para acogerlos y reubicarlos mediante su extenso proceso de adopción. DCSIR se compromete a priorizar la recepción y la colocación de Shiba Inu en el área metropolitana de Washington D. C. y puede colaborar en el rescate de Shiba Inu y razas mixtas en toda la costa este, si las circunstancias lo permiten. DCSIR es un refugio comunitario que se esfuerza por educar a los dueños de mascotas sobre el entrenamiento de comportamiento positivo, la nutrición saludable y los cuidados médicos alternativos, el temperamento de las razas primitivas y la importancia de la esterilización.
