At 3 years old, I’ve got my kitten days behind me, and I’ve grown into a cool, collected companion who knows what he likes: soft places to nap, gentle attention, and being near my favorite humans. I’m the kind of cat who brings a quiet comfort to a home—always there, always loyal, never too much trouble. I do enjoy a bit of play now and then (a toy mouse never stands a chance), but I’m just as happy stretching out in a sunny spot and supervising the world with my wise, observant gaze. I may not be loud or flashy, but I have a whole lot of love to give. Once I trust you, I’m yours—simple as that. Best Friends is working to end the killing of dogs and cats in U.S. shelters in part by getting more pets out of shelters and into loving homes.

We’ve come a long way since the first known city reached no-kill in 1994, and now we’re closer than ever to making the entire country no-kill. Of the roughly 3,900 shelters operating in America today, 1,300 of them are not yet no-kill, but nearly half are close with 100 or fewer additional pets to be saved, and we know what to do to get them there.
