Buddha is a big, goofy boy who loves to hang out with his people. He's the perfect mix of energetic and laid back. He loves to play with stuffed toys and roll around in the grass. He's also content to lay on his bed or by your feet while you are hanging out. He's a bit of a comedian and will certainly make you laugh. He's a lot of fun to cuddle and pet. He loves to go on car rides and sits nicely watching the world go by. He's crate trained, housetrained and walks nicely on a leash.
Buddha was born in 2010 and came to Best Friends from a shelter in Los Angeles. He has anxiety and cannot live with other animals as he has shown aggression toward them in the past. He can be very reactive to other dogs and will bark, whine, jump or potentially try to escape to get to them. He can also be reactive towards people through a barrier like a door or fence if he does not know them. At Dogtown, Buddha is working on a training plan to help him be less reactive towards dogs. He is also working on calm greetings when people enter his space. The training plan and ongoing support would be provided to his new home. Buddha is on some prescription medications that help him be calmer. He had orthopedic surgery in 2018 and still takes medication for that. Buddha would be the perfect companion for someone who wants a single pet and who is willing to keep working on his training.
