Eve, tell us.....
What programs and projects do you volunteer with at Best Friends LA?
I do Dog Caregiving. I walk dogs, snuggle with dogs, and bath dogs. I am a gray paw volunteer, so I can do this with all of the dogs in the shelter. I also volunteered at the adoption event at the La Brea Tar Pits as a greeter.
Why do you choose to volunteer with Best Friends LA?
My kids are older and I was looking for a volunteer activity. I love animals - always have -- and especially dogs. I went and visited the NKLA Center and decided that was the place for me.
How long have you been a Best Friends LA volunteer?
I started in January 2015.
What type of fun stuff do you do when you're not volunteering?
I am full-time bankruptcy lawyer at Levene, Neale, Bender, Yoo & Brill in Century City. When I am not working, I am spending time with my famly, including my two dogs, exercising, reading science fiction/fantasy books, and binge watching television series.
Do you have a favorite story to share about an experience volunteering with Best Friends LA?
My favorite story is when volunteer Kate Shelley and I bathed Einstein. Einstein is a huge long haired german shepherd that had to wear a cone for nearly all of the time he was at NKLA. He was overlooked probably in part because of the cone. After the cone was removed, we took Einstein out on the patio and washed and brushed him. He loved it and looked beautiful. That very afternoon he was adopted! We of course believe the adoption was due to the treatment at Kathy and Eve's Doggie Spa!
Do you have any pets?
I have two dogs - a white mutt (Sandy) and a mini-schnauzer (Kobe); both are rescues of course!
