Kim & Evelyn - November 26, 2016

Kim & Evelyn tell us.....

What programs and projects do you volunteer with at Best Friends LA?
Kim: I walk dogs in the morning as well as clean up the kennel if needed. When I have extra time I spend it in the kennel with the dog or in the yard for playtime. When time permits I also aid in bathing the pups. I love every minute.

Evelyn: I participate in care giving and dog walking.

Why do you choose to volunteer with Best Friends LA?
Kim: I love the "dogs first" culture. It's all about the care and nurturing of the animals. They appreciate all we do and are always there if we need any help.

Evelyn: My daughter and friends told me what a wonderful organization Best Friends was.

How long have you been a Best Friends LA volunteer?
Kim: I have been a volunteer for approx. eight months.

Evelyn: About 4 months.

What type of fun stuff do you do when you're not volunteering?
Kim: I am a retired Boeing website administrator. I love exercising (walking) and following my husbands jazz band and, of course, spending time with my dogs.

Evelyn: Exercise and watching all sports programs

Do you have a favorite story to share about an experience volunteering with Best Friends LA?
Kim: I love volunteering at Best Friends/NKLA. The people are great and the dogs amazing. I always said that I wouldn't walk one dog named Roomba because she intimidated me. A friend of mine talked me into giving her a spin around the block. Needless to say I am disappointed if I don't get to walk her now. She is one of my favorites but don't tell anyone lol.

Evelyn: Volunteering at Best Friends has shown me how much the animals are loved and cared for.

Do you have any pets?
Kim: I have two chihuahuas named Princess and Vanilla. Vanilla is in the picture with me. Princess is 13 and going blind. Vanilla had RA and has trouble walking. Both dogs are my best friends and make my life wonderful. They give me so much love.

Evelyn: I have an 18 year dog who is partially blind and deaf but is still my sweet boy.
