Volunteer photographer Pam with a dog
Pam is an amazing volunteer and helps the adoptable dogs and cats at Best Friends Pet Adoption Center look just as amazing in their adoption profile photos.

"Our Best Friends" is a weekly installment to honor just a few of our outstanding Best Friends LA volunteers. This is your chance to get to know some of the shining stars in the Best Friends LA volunteer program! Volunteers are either nominated by Best Friends LA staff or other volunteers in our program. If you would like to volunteer, e-mail the Best Friends LA Volunteer Department at volunteerLA@bestfriends.org.

Pam N., tell us.....

What programs and projects do you volunteer with at Best Friends LA?
Photo assistant, adoptions, events, dogs, neonatal kitties, pup my ride, kennel cleaning...wherever needed!

Why do you choose to volunteer with Best Friends LA?
The people and the animals inspire me here. The phrase "be the change you want to see in the world" applies. The people are selfless, genuine and all there for a common good. The animals....well, they all have special qualities. I love them all. Learning to help them become all they can be so they can be adopted gives me joy. Finding their forever home and watching them leave still makes me teary.

How long have you been a Best Friends LA volunteer?
About 1.5 years.

What type of fun stuff do you do when you're not volunteering?
Photography, golf, hike, and dog agility.

Do you have a favorite story to share about an experience volunteering with Best Friends LA?
There are too many to choose just one!

Do you have any pets?
We have three dogs -- two cattle dogs, Dexter & Wiley. They both love hiking, diving in the pool & agility ( I have a mad love of herding dogs). We also have a Poodle mix named Oliver. Wiley & Oliver were both rescued from bad situations but are thriving now.

What others are saying about Pam:
"Pam is an amazing volunteer and person. She can wrangle any dog (or cat!) for their adoption photo. And she is a pro at showing the new folks how to help get the best photo. Not only that she is the best advocate for our animals and has even found homes for many! Thank you Pam for all you do!" -- Lori Fusaro, Photographer
