Best Friends’ response to Hurricane Helene
Right now, Best Friends’ disaster response teams are actively working to identify needs to best support impacted animal shelters and rescue groups in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee.
Friday, September 27: Hurricane Helene made landfall as a category 4 storm and had record storm surge in some areas of coastal Florida. We’re reaching out to shelters in the storm’s path, to determine the impact. As you can imagine, it’s going to be a long process. The path will take Helene to Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. A lot of folks are without power at the moment and we don’t know how long it will be before we can connect.
With these types of storms, people are able to prepare for themselves and their pets. Florida is also one of the states that has a great infrastructure for hurricanes.
As we find out more, we will update this space. You can also check our social media channels for information.
