"Alexa/Google: How Do I Crate Train a Puppy?"
Best Friends Animal Society Partners with Voicify to Launch Pet Resources
The First Voice Skill/Action to Provide Answers about Pet Behavior, Wellness, and More from Animal Experts
Kanab, UT -- Best Friends Animal Society has partnered with Voicify to launch Pet Resources, a voice skill on the Alexa and Google Assistant voice assistant platforms that provides a free resource for pet owners. The skill gives users answers to questions about pet behavior, wellness, and more from animal experts. It was launched by the national animal welfare organization to help connect with pet owners across the country, help more pets find homes (and stay in them), and spread awareness about pet adoption.
"We are proud to launch this resource for pet owners through voice assistant platforms," said Sue Citro, Chief Experience Officer, Best Friends Animal Society. "Best Friends is on a mission to end the killing of shelter pets in the U.S. by 2025, so it is our hope that by providing in-home expert advice, we can help pet lovers with the questions they may face as they consider adoption or deal with pet ownership challenges."
Anyone who owns a voice assistant can access this new skill. To invoke the skill, users simply say "Alexa/Google, enable Pet Resources." Then ask it a question for answers from animal experts.
· Alexa, how do I adopt a pet?
· Alexa, how do I crate train a puppy?
· Alexa, how can I get my cat to use the litter box?
"Having Best Friends Animal Society leverage our platform is a cornerstone example of how voice and conversational experience is meant to provide value and meaning to its users," said Jason Fields, Chief Strategy Officer, Voicify. "We are excited to be the backbone of their voice experience and witness how they are using it to impact people's and animals' lives."
About Best Friends Animal Society
Best Friends Animal Society is a leading national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending the killing of dogs and cats in America's shelters. In addition to running lifesaving programs in partnership with more than 2,600 animal welfare groups across the country, Best Friends has regional centers in New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Salt Lake City, and operates the nation's largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals. Founded in 1984, Best Friends is a pioneer in the no-kill movement and has helped reduce the number of animals killed in shelters nationwide from an estimated 17 million per year to about 800,000. That means there are still nearly 2,200 dogs and cats killed every day in shelters, just because they don't have safe places to call home. We are determined to bring the country to no-kill by the year 2025. Working collaboratively with shelters, rescue groups, other organizations and you, we will end the killing and Save Them All.
