Location: Remote within the continental US

Hiring Range: This position’s hiring range is anticipated to be $65,000 to $80,000 annually, depending on experience, plus great benefits!

Manager interviews will start January 23rd (recruiter phone screens will occur prior to a manager interview).

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Benefits Analyst to join our team.  Working remotely, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in benefits administration, a deep understanding of employee benefits programs, and excellent communication, analytical, and reconciliation skills. They will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective implementation, communication, and administration of our employee benefits programs.  The Benefits Analyst is a unique combination of a forward-facing role, utilizing your excellent communication skills to handle employee inquiries with urgency, along with a high level of analytical aptitude to ensure day-to-day processes, systems, and files run smoothly and in compliance with benefit regulations behind the scenes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acts as the first point of contact for benefit inquiries, providing comprehensive support to employees, ensuring clarity and accuracy in explaining plan options and addressing concerns, proactively researching benefit issues, and escalating issues when necessary.

  • Delivers new employee orientation benefits presentation virtually.

  • Assists with developing and maintaining communication materials such as guides, FAQs, and global benefits summaries and maintenance of the Benefit intranet page.

  • Oversees the Dependent Care Reimbursement program.

  • Monitors benefit enrollments for new hires and life events, ensuring compliance and communicating with employees for required documentation and deadlines.

  • Manages the vendor invoice reconciliation process with the ability to reconcile large and complex data sets, troubleshoot issues, and work with vendors for resolution.

  • Monitors benefit deductions, working closely with payroll each pay period to ensure accuracy and resolve issues.

  • Researches daily and weekly eligibility file feed discrepancies from vendors, working closely with HR to ensure data integrity.

  • Completes benefit related requests such as court orders.

  • Updates, maintains, and follows standard operation procedures.  Recommends process improvements and creates and automates processes where needed.

  • Assist the Sr. Manager, Benefits with benefit projects, Open Enrollment, benefit plan audits, and HRIS system testing as needed.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in an analytical field such as accounting or economics.

  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation highly desirable.

  • At least 3 years of corporate benefit administration experience required including file management and benefit compliance.

  • Experience with reconciling complex invoices/data.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of laws and regulations impacting employee benefits, including but not limited to COBRA, ACA, FMLA, ERISA, HIPAA.

  • Excellent customer service skills a must.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to address complex benefits matters clearly and efficiently.

  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality with sensitive employee information.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office including intermediate Excel skills.

  • Must have analytical and mathematical aptitude. Accounting experience is a strong plus.

  • Working knowledge of payroll and HRIS systems (Workday preferred).

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Great attention to detail to ensure highest level of quality.

  • General understanding of payroll processes and benefit deduction set up.

  • Flexible, ability to execute well in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving department/organization.

  • Proactive, organized, detailed-oriented, self-starter and quality driven.

  • Ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, set goals, and consistently deliver timely and accurate products and services.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to see and sort a variety of printed and online information.

  • Ability to work at a computer and/or on the phone for extended periods of time with repetitive typing, arm and hand motion.   

  • Occasional travel required in order to attend enrollment seminars, conferences or participate in other Best Friends sponsored events.

  • Ability to work overtime including evenings and weekends occasionally as needed to support employees and meet required deadlines.
