At Best Friends Animal Society, we've always firmly believed that collaboration with local animal shelters and rescue organizations - the people who know their communities best - is key to increasing lifesaving of dogs, cats and other pets in America's shelters. Help for animal shelters, rescue groups and others
The Best Friends Network, comprising public and private shelters, rescue groups, spay/neuter organizations and other animal welfare groups across all 50 states, is at the heart of the collaborative spirit that helps define Best Friends. We believe that each shelter and the community it serves have their own individual personality, just like animals in the shelter's care. And because of that, each shelter deserves support and resources designed to address its specific lifesaving needs.
Joining the network comes with benefits, such as access to a variety of professional resources and mentorship opportunities to achieve organizational goals and increase lifesaving impact. A few select organizations, which have a significant and measurable impact on reducing deaths in shelters in their communities, may qualify for special grants. Network partners can also participate in major fundraising events such as our nationwide Strut Your Mutt, which takes place in the fall each year. In the 2018 event, nearly $2 million was raised for our network partners around the country.
