Adoptable dogs shine bright at Rockefeller tree lighting
Thanks to a new partnership with Toyota, Best Friends Animal Society had the opportunity to make an appearance on the NBC special “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” for the iconic annual tree lighting in New York City on December 4. But what truly made the evening unforgettable were a few furry guests who stole the spotlight: Nigel, Rose, and Henry, pups from the Best Friends Lifesaving Center in New York.

Best Friends CEO Julie Castle joined NBC host Kelly Clarkson on stage for a powerful shout-out in support of pet adoption. Seeing Nigel, Rose, and Henry soaking up the attention during this cherished holiday event was a dream come true.
“What a cool piece of Americana to be involved in,” Julie reflects. “To represent the animals and the organization was just really special.”
Adding to the excitement, Toyota donated $50,000 to the animals at Best Friends, and its commercial, “Real Reward,” aired during the broadcast. The commercial showcases a heartwarming story of a couple who helps a lost dog find his way home, underscoring the importance of individuals stepping up to help save lives. Toyota’s partnership with Best Friends will provide nationwide support — this holiday season and beyond — for Best Friends and our network of shelter and rescue group partners to continue our mission to find homeless dogs and cats loving homes.

The biggest stars of the night? The dogs, of course. These three pups took their role as adoption ambassadors seriously, soaking in the sights, sounds, and snuggles — and Nigel and Rose are still available to adopt. By the end of the evening, it was clear: This wasn’t just a spotlight on Best Friends; it was a celebration of hope, love, and community.
