The IWVHS was organized in 1984 by a group of friends concerned about animal welfare in Ridgecrest and the small towns closest to Ridgecrest. The IWVHS has organized and funded many spay/neuter voucher programs, a senior program to provide free adoption and veterinary medical assistance, microchip and vaccine/license clinics, adoption events, educational programs through the school district, and more.
