Alternative Humane Society of Whatcom County logo (1)
Bellingham, WA

The Alternative Humane Society was founded in 1977 with a no-kill philosophy and a goal of making Whatcom County a no-kill community. The use of foster homes for rescued animals was and has continued to be our policy. We remain a 100% volunteer organization with no paid staff and no physical shelter. All of the animals are still kept in foster homes. AHS offers a spay/neuter voucher program for those who qualify.
