The primary objectives of the Shelbyville Police Department’s Animal Care and Control Division is to protect and educate the public. Animal control officers protect the public by responding to dangerous animal calls and they educate the public about the rabies virus, altering domestic animals and local and state laws. When these objectives are achieved they in turn protect the animals as well. Furthermore we find lasting homes for adoptable animals.
