An acclaimed actress, singer and Yale graduate, Bellamy Young is best known for her role as First Lady Mellie Grant on ABC's award-winning series "Scandal." She has also had longstanding roles on "Criminal Minds," "CSI: Miami," "Dirty Sexy Money" and "Scrubs." Bellamy is a proud parent to her dog, The Bean, and her cats, Sadie, Button and Max. She has been a long-time supporter of Best Friends and a lifelong lover of animals. She recently helped save a litter of kittens from Best Friends in Los Angeles by opening her heart and home to fostering.

When I first started to become aware of animal welfare issues, Best Friends was the first organization I found whose mission really spoke to my heart: Save Them All. And they were walking their talk with an even-then incredible sanctuary in Kanab, Utah. I made a point to drive there in 1996 while on a cross-country trip to L.A. for a job, and it was as magical as I dreamed it would be. I long for a time when everyone treats each other - and our animal friends - with the dignity, grace and mindfulness with which the folks at Best Friends greet each day. And I believe they truly can help us all achieve a no-kill country. I'm grateful for their leadership, and proud to be part of the Best Friends family. Join us by opening your heart - and hopefully even your home - to a love greater than words could describe. Because it really is true: You save them, and they save you right back.
