Ask Maryland state legislators to support SB 443 / HB 681.

People should not have to choose between their animal companions and safe and affordable housing.

Homelessness and housing insecurity is a rising issue as millions of renters became behind on rent payments due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unreasonable pet fees create additional financial barriers, leading to poorer housing security among already disadvantaged and marginalized populations.

Maryland Senate Bill 443 / House Bill 681 would help by incentivizing pet-inclusive housing, preventing further displacement of vulnerable families. This legislation would create a tax credit for owners of rental housing who allow dogs and cats in their rental properties without non-refundable pet fees or breed/size restrictions.
