Senate Bill 971 signed into law!

Pet-inclusive housing allows families to stay together. Each year, millions of pets enter California's animal shelters with housing, moving, or landlord issues cited as the top reasons. Although three out of four renters are pet-owners, there is simply not enough pet-inclusive housing available in California.

No one should have to choose between their family pet and safe, affordable housing.

California Senate Bill 971 will increase access to rental housing for low-income pet owners by expanding pet-inclusive policies for housing that is financed through the Department of Housing and Community Development and the Low-Income Tax Credit Program.
