Location: Kanab, Utah – Information Station (Sand Caves parking lot)
Hiring Range: This position’s hourly wage is $18.00 per hour, plus great benefits!
This is for a Seasonal Full-Time Sanctuary Ambassador: Thursday through Monday; weekends and holidays included. Shifts will consist of 8:00am-5:00pm and 9:00am-6:00pm throughout the season. The end date for this role is tentatively October 31st, 2026.
Position Summary: Best Friends Animal Sanctuary has approximately 25,000 – 30,000 annual visitors. The Sanctuary Ambassador is a first point of contact, and they play an integral role in welcoming our visitors and discussing the options at hand for a glimpse into our life-saving work. They are informed and up to date on all Sanctuary happenings, Best Friends' mission, and any new developments on the horizon. The Sanctuary Ambassador is responsible for providing our Information Station visitors with an engaging and informative experience, while answering questions about touring, volunteering and visiting the Sanctuary. The Information Station is located in the Sand Caves parking lot directly off Highway 89.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Greet all visitors in a warm and inviting manner, both in the Information Station and across the Sanctuary.
Provide information about tours, volunteer opportunities, adoptions, and the overall mission of Best Friends. This includes assisting with on-the-spot sign-ups for time-sensitive activities.
Lead craft making activities for drop-in volunteers.
Invite and encourage all visitors to become members and donors of Best Friends Animal Society.
Sell snacks and beverages through POS system, maintain inventory.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
Genuine passion for animal welfare and the mission of Best Friends Animal Society.
Experience in a customer service-centric role.
Experience working in the tourism industry is desired.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to retain and relay large amounts of information.
Knowledge of local area and attractions in addition to Sanctuary experiences.
Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, team player, personable, professional, and able to get along with people from different backgrounds.
Well-developed organization skills to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands; with accurate, appropriate, clear, and concise written and verbal communication skills; and strong listening skills.
Resourceful, get-it-done attitude; ability to adapt to new processes; detail-oriented, problem-solving, seeking answers independently and enthusiastically.
Self-motivated to keep informed of facts about Best Friends news, events, and informational material to accurately relay them to visitors.
Proficient computer skills are a must. Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Google Docs are preferred.
Bilingual or multilingual skills are preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Able to stand and sit for extended periods of time, and perform daily activities including, but not limited to lifting, carrying, reaching, stooping, squatting, cleaning, and bending.
Work at a computer for extended periods of time with repetitive typing, arm, and hand motion.
Work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
Comfortable working independently within an enclosed space.
Daily hours and days of the week may vary according to the needs of the department's schedule; position includes weekends, and holiday work.
