Hiring Range:This position’s hiring range is anticipated to be $75,000 to $85,000 annually, depending on experience, plus great benefits!

This is a full-time,temporaryrole that is expected to have a completion date of May 31, 2027.

Position Summary:The Event Marketing Strategistis responsible fordeveloping and executingaudience-first, conversion-focusedmarketing strategies and activations that support key B2B, B2C, and donor-facing initiatives at Best Friends. This role is focused on driving awareness,excitement,andattendancefor priority events and campaignsbyidentifyingtarget audiences,developing thepositioningand messaging foreventsthatresonate with each audience, and activating the most effective channels to reach and motivate them.

This is highly collaborative role centered on strategic planning, execution, and hands-on tactical marketing. The Event Marketing Strategist works to increase cohesion, alignment, and overall impact across Best Friends events. The role reports to the Associate Director, National Marketing, and partners closely with the Brand and Events teams, as well as cross-functional stakeholders.

In addition, this position will provide short-term coverage and support for DXC-related initiatives as needed, helpingtoensure continuity in creative oversight, PR and marketing strategies, and corporate partnership support during peak periods or project-based needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implementaudience-drivenevent marketing strategies to meetorganizationalobjectivesmanage details,budgets and timelines to deliver high-quality marketing campaigns for events that include National Conference (B2B) andmarquee fundraising events, including Best Friends Benefit to Save Them All.

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with digital and copy teams to shape content strategy for event landing pages and email campaigns, guiding copywriters ontone, urgency, audience framing, calls to action and overallstrategic direction.

  • Partner with Brand teamtoleadend-to-endstrategy and executionfor eventswith plans that span design, marketing materials across all channels,and performance measurement.

  • Utilizesocial media and digital platforms to promote events and create engaging, motivatingcontent todrive awareness and attendance.

  • Analyze the success of each event and prepare reports on key outcomes andrecommendations foroptimization andfuture improvements.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in event marketingand promotion, audienceengagementand lifecycle marketing.

  • Build andmaintainrelationships with partners, sponsors, and other stakeholders.

  • Ensure all eventscomply withrelevant regulations and legal requirements.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in marketing, both B2B and B2C experiencerequired, with a strong background in event marketing and strategy development.

  • Demonstrated success in marketing national and local events for B2B and B2C brands, with a preference for experience in non-profits and/or animal welfare or related fields.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.

  • Deep understanding of digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media, email marketing, and content management systems.

  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively, with a knack for storytelling, data collection, experience design and engaging diverse audiences.

  • Passion for animal welfare and a commitment to promoting the mission ofourorganization.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel asrequired,anticipatedup to 30%.

  • Ability to travel, including overnight stays, when needed and the ability to travel via various forms of transportation.  

  • Work at a computer for extended periods of time with repetitive typing, sitting, arm, and hand motion.

  • Must have a valid driver's license for at least 3 years, ability to qualify to be added to Best Friends insurance.

  • Flexibility to work odd days and hours as needed for events and promotions. May include weekends, nights, and holiday work. Considerations will be made for appropriate work-life balance.
