Location: Kanab, UT
Hiring Range: This position’s hiring range is anticipated to be $18.00 - $18.50 per hour depending on experience, plus great benefits!
Work schedule: Mon/Tues/Wed 8-5
Interviews will occur weekly until the position is filled.
Position Summary: The Switchboard operator provides quality experience for our first-time callers, members and potential donors, whose initial phone contact with the organization is through the switchboard system. This person is responsible for handling over 20,000 incoming calls/year with courtesy and professionalism while gaining information as to the nature of the call as quickly as possible to transfer the caller to the most appropriate department.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Ensure that all callers experience a superior level of customer service that aligns with Best Friends Animal Society's mission.
- Route calls to the appropriate personnel to ensure timely feedback.
- Stay updated on changes, current news and events via the website, magazine, emails, and other internal resources to be able to give correct information at all times.
- Offer callers solutions with various animal-help related issues through persistent research to achieve positive outcomes for the animals to help us Save Them All.
- Share new/updated information with other switchboard operators to ensure consistency.
- Prepare department reports as scheduled.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven ability to manage high‑volume inbound calls with professionalism while quickly assessing caller needs and routing them appropriately.
- Strong customer service, attention to detail, team player, and excellent communicator, ensuring every caller receives a positive, mission‑aligned experience.
- Skilled in problem‑solving through research, especially for animal‑related inquiries, to help achieve positive outcomes.
- Consistently stays up‑to‑date on organizational information, programs, and resources to provide accurate guidance.
- Collaborative team member who shares information, supports consistency, and contributes to a positive, compassionate workplace culture.
- Experience preparing accurate departmental reports and maintaining clear documentation.
Physical Requirements:
- Extended periods of time working on the computer
- Lifting required up to 20 lbs
