Meet Samara, our affectionate our three-legged 5-year-old cuddle queen who’s part hiking buddy, part snuggle expert, and all-around best friend. Samara is gentle with kids, a respectful roommate to cats and dogs, and always ready to greet new friends with a joyful (but polite!) hello. Whether you’re up for fetch in the park or movie nights on the couch, Samara will fill your days with sweetness and your nights with warm, furry companionship.   2. Stop by to say hello or make a date to meet an off-site pet. 
  3. Let us know which pet you’d like to bring home.
  4. Make it official! Sign the adoption contract and pay any fee.
  5. Take home your new best friend.

Best Friends is working to end the killing of dogs and cats in U.S. shelters in part by getting more pets out of shelters and into loving homes.

We’ve come a long way since the first known city reached no-kill in 1994, and now we’re closer than ever to making the entire country no-kill. Of the roughly 3,900 shelters operating in America today, 1,300 of them are not yet no-kill, but nearly half are close with 100 or fewer additional pets to be saved, and we know what to do to get them there.
