Pat tell us.....

What programs and projects do you volunteer with at Best Friends LA?
This is my third season with the kitten nursery.  I started approximately three years ago as a greeter.  At the time I didn't I wasn't sure where I would be working.  I came to visit the cats because my wonderful cat (Bud) crossed over the rainbow bridge.  He was sixteen years old and I adopted him and his sister when they were six weeks old.  They were rescues of course.

Why do you choose to volunteer with Best Friends LA?
I was so impressed with the friendliness and warmth of everyone I met that I thought that Best Friends would be a be a good place to volunteer.

How long have you been a Best Friends LA volunteer?
I have been volunteering at Best Friends since the beginning of 2014!

Do you have a favorite story to share about an experience volunteering with Best Friends LA?
Volunteering at the kitten nursery has been so rewarding!  I have so many stories.  I think the thing I have learned is how different their personalities are right from the beginning.
I think one of my favorite adventures was when I was cleaning one of the suites on the second level.  I barely only opened the door and one came flying out and landed on my shoulder.  He made himself at home.  They keep me on my toes.

Do you have any pets?
Apricot, who was adopted from Best Friends. I went into the FIV room, accompanied by Janette, and sat on the bench to visit.  In a minute Miss Apricot came over, put her head on my shoulder, and followed me to the door.  She is very much a lady and  thoroughly enjoy conversations when she sits on my lap, and of course wants her head scratched.

What others are saying about Pat:
"Pat is such a pleasure to have around.  She always puts a smile on everyone's face, including the many babies she feeds on a regular basis :)  Pat is a nursery staple and we love having her among us feeding and caring for the kittens.  She has a joyous heart and its so fun to work with her.  Congrats on volunteer of the month, it's well deserved!" - Janette Nevils
