Cristal is currently in foster care and ready for adoption via our virtual process! Cristal, a two-year-old female, just arrived and is still getting settled in, so we’re just beginning to learn who they are. Right now, everything is new—new people, new sounds, new routines—and we’re giving them time to relax, decompress, and show us their true personality at their own pace. Here’s what we know so far about her time in foster care: https://acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:VA6C2:78df6a46-40cd-46d3-abf6-… Cristal is a sweet and gentle girl. She is both playful and affectionate. Her foster says "She started off in my bedroom with me, my sister, and my mom. The room was calm and quiet, and she did not seem scared of us...She enjoys using her scratching post (it just needs to be weighed down for stability) and likes to stretch and scratch on it. She also enjoys climbing and looking out the window. She is very curious and likes to explore new spaces at her own pace. She meows softly at times...When I opened access to other rooms (my mom’s room, our middle room, kitchen, and bathroom), she explored confidently. She met my dad and my sister’s boyfriend and was comfortable around them as well. She has never scratched or shown aggression. She is calm and kind overall, just slightly cautious when people approach too quickly or try to pet her before she is ready." Her fosters love "Her calmness, easygoing nature. And how fast she adapted to everyone and her foster home. Very friendly and loves to be petted! " and "When she jumps under the bed comforter to take a nap and all you see is a little hump on the bed. Also how vocal she is when petted and when people watching through the window." She has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and has had preventative treatments to ensure she is ready for her next steps. Submit an adoption survey from above and our team will reach out via phone or email (check spam) to schedule a counseling call. For any additional questions, please contact fosternyc@bestfriends.org. Please remember, pets cannot be held or reserved.

About Best Friends Animal Society

Best Friends is working to end the killing of dogs and cats in U.S. shelters in part by getting more pets out of shelters and into loving homes.

We’ve come a long way since the first known city reached no-kill in 1994, and now we’re closer than ever to making the entire country no-kill. Of the roughly 3,900 shelters operating in America today, 1,300 of them are not yet no-kill, but nearly half are close with 100 or fewer additional pets to be saved, and we know what to do to get them there.

Best Friends is committed to working with passionate people like you to save homeless pets through adoption, volunteering, fostering, and advocacy. In addition to our lifesaving centers around the U.S, we also founded and run the nation's largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals.

Working together, we can save homeless pets in our communities and secure a better future for our best friends. Together, we will bring the whole country to no-kill.
