Best Friends wins 'Build-A-Bear' grant
Best Friends was one of 10 animal groups in the United States and Canada to receive a grant from "Build-A-Bear Workshop®." The $10,000 grant to Best Friends is directed towards animal care at the sanctuary.
Since 2004, Build-A-Bear Workshop® (www.buildabear.com) has distributed over $265,000 to organizations that work with pet programs.
Building partnerships
"Build-A-Bear Workshop® believes in being good community partners and has supported causes that benefit animals since the first store opened seven years ago. Bearemy’s Kennel Pals is a line of plush dogs available in all our stores that generates money for the support of pet programs. We donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each full-sized Bearemy’s Kennel Pals friend to domestic pet programs including local animal shelters, stray pet rescue and rehabilitation organizations, and pet education programs.
"Best Friends Animals Society serves a large constituency, operating the nation’s largest sanctuary for homeless animals. Their dedication is evident in the many services provided including ongoing care, adoption opportunities, spay/neuter services and educational programs. We are proud to help support Best Friends Animal Society’s efforts and we applaud the work that they do in their community," said Shawn Bertani, Bear Relations Coordinator.
