Dr. Jane Goodall
Known around the world for her ground-breaking and tireless work with chimpanzees, Dr. Jane Goodall is equally committed to saving the lives of companion animals.
The founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and United Nations Messenger of Peace has participated in Strut Your Mutt. And when she was honored as the Grand Marshall of the 2013 Tournament of Roses Parade, she highlighted homeless pets by insisting on appearing with Chuck, who had been available for adoption from the Best Friends Pet Adoption and Spay/Neuter Center.
"My childhood companion, my dog Rusty, was also my great teacher," recalls Jane. "He proved to me that animals have personalities, minds and emotions. My very favorite animal is a dog and I wish I could adopt many homeless dogs who so desperately need a loving home. Sadly my life on the road makes this impossible. It breaks my heart to think of all the dogs out there who need our help and all the people who would so benefit from the love of a dog."
