Letters from home: pet adoption updates
No matter how big or small, young or old, it’s a magical moment when homeless pets find new families to love them. The wagging tails, rumbling purrs and smiling faces are all the proof we need of that. From coast to coast, Best Friends helps thousands of pets find new homes each year, and every adoption is a cause for celebration (and maybe a few happy tears).
We want to share some of that joy with you, so here are a few of the dogs and cats who have recently settled into their new lives with their new favorite people.
Racko
Racko has adjusted remarkably to the “easy life” after so many years at the Sanctuary. We love him a lot. I fostered him for three months prior to adoption and worked with him as a local volunteer for a year before that. So, I knew his issues and quirks pretty well, and then got to see how he is in the home. Racko is starting to play a little more and get silly with me. He’s super chill the majority of the time and follows me around the house. He’s a complex guy and such a handsome hunk. I can't imagine my home without him.
Brutus
Ana’s plan was simple when she went to a bar to watch football one Sunday: Watch the game, see some friends and call it a night. Little did she know she was about to meet the man of her dreams. A handsome pup named Brutus was there as part of an adoption event. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Maya
Maya is living her best Texas life! San Antonio is super dog-friendly, so we get to take her to almost every restaurant with a patio, and she loves it. She absolutely loves the water and every single dog she meets. Our lives are so much fuller with her in it. She really has brought a light to our lives that we didn’t know was possible. Every day, she comes out of her shell more and more, and it is so fun to watch. When she wags her tail, her whole body wags with it. We are just so in love. Thank you for helping us to adopt our new family member.
Romeo and Ramona
Shortly after the Señor Kitty adoption, I started thinking of getting a girlfriend for him. While volunteering, I saw Ramona at Cat World. The staff thought she would be a wonderful companion for my tripod boy. And they are right! I brought Ramona home and, within a few days, Señor Kitty became more active and happier. Señor Kitty is now Romeo. He is such a womanizer, so this is a perfect name for him. Romeo and Ramona: Doesn’t that sound like lovers?
Zazu
Zazu adores people, but he has a hard time getting along with other cats. Luckily, he’s the only feline in this family of humans, and now he has five laps to crawl into whenever he wants.
Pendleton
We are pleased to update you about Pendleton’s status with us. He is thriving and doing well. Pendleton has so much love to give, and we more than happily accept it. He is so loving and sweet. We have a few nicknames for his chirps. Jason has called him Sir Chirps-a-Lot and I have called him Chirpa-cabra.
