Best Friends and Whisker & Bone, a boutique pet shop and grooming facility in St. George, Utah, are teaming up to save vulnerable cats and kittens through adoption, and we can't do it without your help.

In this new program, adoptable cats and kittens get to stay in the cute and comfy digs at Whisker & Bone while they wait for homes of their own. Even better? Housing the cats at Whisker & Bone frees up space at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in nearby Kanab for other pets in need.

This is crucial to saving the lives of homeless pets. Every day, dogs and cats are killed in animal shelters simply because they don’t have safe places to call home.

You can get in on the lifesaving when you adopt, volunteer, and advocate for homeless pets. Working together, we’ll create better lives for pets in St. George and a happier, healthier community for both people and animals.

Adopt a cat or kitten

When you adopt a cat or kitten who’s been patiently waiting for a place to call home, you’re saving a life.

You’re also making space at the Sanctuary for other homeless pets and giving them a chance to grow, thrive, and find families of their very own. You might not feel like a hero, but to one animal, you’re the entire world.

We hope you'll stop by to meet our adoptable cats and kittens — and our feline friends do, too!

Volunteer to save lives

Love cats and live near St. George? Join Best Friends and Whisker & Bone to help care for adoptable cats and kittens housed at this boutique pet shop and grooming facility.

Volunteers scoop litter, refresh food and water, and help keep the space tidy and welcoming for potential adopters. All opportunities are located at Whisker & Bone at 1028 E. Tabernacle St. #3 in St. George, Utah.

We require that volunteers are 18 years or older, comfortable around cats, and able to lift 30 pounds. Interested? Reach out to volunteers@bestfriends.org or call 435-319-0622. Take a look at our volunteer shift calendar to see available times.

About Best Friends Animal Society

Best Friends is working to end the killing of dogs and cats in U.S. shelters in part by getting more pets out of shelters and into loving homes.

We’ve come a long way since the first known city reached no-kill in 1994, and now we’re closer than ever to making the entire country no-kill. Of the roughly 3,900 shelters operating in America today, 1,300 of them are not yet no-kill, but nearly half are close with 100 or fewer additional pets to be saved, and we know what to do to get them there.

Best Friends is committed to working with passionate people like you to save homeless pets through adoption, volunteering, fostering, and advocacy. In addition to our lifesaving centers around the U.S, we also founded and run the nation's largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals.

Working together, we can save homeless pets in our communities and secure a better future for our best friends. Together, we will bring the whole country to no-kill.
