Sharon St. Joan, Co-Founder
Sharon St. Joan is a co-founder of Best Friends, a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, and the creator of both Parrot Garden and Wild Friends, our state and federally licensed wildlife rehabilitation center at the Sanctuary.
Sharon has cared for hundreds of orphaned or injured wild birds and other animals over the years, helping them to heal so they could be released back to the wild. She has spoken many times at national wildlife conferences about the care of wild birds. And she’s written many articles for Best Friends’ website and magazine on the topic of wildlife. Sharon has also represented Best Friends at international animal conferences, including the Asia for Animals Conference, which has been held in several Asian countries.
She has always been particularly fascinated by the wildlife of India, and since retiring she has continued to maintain contact with and help several animal organizations in that country, as well as conservation groups and leaders who work to save and restore the wild lands of the magnificent American Southwest.
