May was National Pet Month. With support from partners like Walmart and participating pet care brands, more pets found their way to loving homes at “Give Love. Save Lives” adoption events.

Walmart is dedicated to saving the lives of homeless pets, and we were absolutely thrilled to be working with them to celebrate National Pet Month. We kicked off the festivities with “Give Love. Save Lives.” adoption events taking place at Walmart locations across 20 cities in May.

Finding your new best friend was never easier. Adoption fees were waived all month long at Best Friends Pet Adoption Centers. But that’s not all: Thanks to our network partners, adoption fees were also covered at all 20 locations for the “Give Love. Save Lives.” events.

And the impact didn't stop there. Participating pet supply brands at Walmart were also stepping up to support homeless pets. Throughout May, Walmart was helping to build a brighter future for homeless dogs and cats across America — and that’s a win for everyone.

As part of the National Pet Month celebration, “Give Love. Save Lives.” adoption events happened in cities across the country — making it easier than ever to meet a new best friend.

Meet the Walmart suppliers that stepped up to save lives.

Thanks to partners like Walmart, more dogs and cats got the second chances they deserve and found the families they’d been waiting for.

About Best Friends Animal Society

Best Friends is working to end the killing of dogs and cats in U.S. shelters in part by getting more pets out of shelters and into loving homes.

We’ve come a long way since the first known city reached no-kill in 1994, and now we’re closer than ever to making the entire country no-kill. Of the roughly 3,900 shelters operating in America today, 1,300 of them are not yet no-kill, but nearly half are close with 100 or fewer additional pets to be saved, and we know what to do to get them there.

Best Friends is committed to working with passionate people like you to save homeless pets through adoption, volunteering, fostering, and advocacy. In addition to our pet adoption centers around the U.S, we also founded and run the nation's largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals.

Working together, we can save homeless pets in our communities and secure a better future for our best friends. Together, we will bring the whole country to no-kill.
