Supergirl and Krypto hope to inspire pet adoption
When Superman hit theaters last summer, Krypto the dog stole the show. The CGI pup and trusty sidekick won over fans, and that ended up helping real dogs get adopted from shelters. Last year, Best Friends Animal Society partnered with Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios to encourage moviegoers who wanted their own Krypto to head to their nearest animal shelter and adopt.
Now, as Supergirl steps into the spotlight with her own movie this summer — with Krypto too — we’re teaming up again to show that home is never far away when you have a loyal best friend by your side.
When you adopt, the benefits go both ways: Pets get a family and home to call their own, and adopters discover new joy, comfort, laughter, and love in return.
Somewhere in a shelter right now is a pet who could be your partner, your companion, your sidekick — your own Krypto.
Supergirl opens in theaters on June 26, and Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios will cover dog adoption fees at all Best Friends Pet Adoption Centers and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary from June 22 through July 5.
Let's make every shelter and every community no-kill
Our goal at Best Friends is to support all animal shelters in the U.S. in reaching no-kill. No-kill means saving every dog and cat in a shelter who can be saved, accounting for community safety and good quality of life for pets.
Shelter staff can’t do it alone. Saving animals in shelters is everyone’s responsibility, and it takes support and participation from the community. No-kill is possible when we work together thoughtfully, honestly, and collaboratively.
You can help save homeless pets
You can help end the killing in shelters and save the lives of homeless pets when you foster, adopt, and advocate for the dogs and cats who need it most.
Saving lives around the country
Together, we're creating compassionate no-kill communities nationwide for pets and the people who care for them.
