Best Friends’ response to Hurricane Isaias
Right now, Best Friends’ emergency response teams are actively working to identify needs to best support impacted animal shelters and rescue groups in the Gulf Coast.
The latest
As Hurricane Isaias begins to make landfall on the Gulf Coast today, Best Friends is working ahead of the storm to get dogs and cats out of harm's way. In the past two days we have moved or helped move 52 pets out of the Mobile Animal Shelter to partners across the southeast, and we have more transports planned for today. The goal is to free up space by moving adoptable pets out of the area so the Mobile shelter will have space to take in pets that get lost during the storm and get them back to their owners. We are also in close contact with all of our partner shelters across the impact area, and will provide help as needed to as many pets as we can.
