Richmond SPCA

Richmond SPCA is a partner of Best Friends, working together to save the lives of dogs and cats in communities like yours across the country

The Best Friends Network is made up of thousands of public and private shelters, rescue groups, spay/neuter organizations, and other animal welfare groups — all working to save the lives of dogs and cats in communities like yours across the country.

From Richmond SPCA

Founded in 1891, the Richmond SPCA is Central Virginia's largest animal welfare organization and a national leader in lifesaving and humane education. Each year, we take more than 4,000 homeless pets into our care while helping thousands more through our full-service Susan M. Markel Veterinary Hospital, Smoky's Spay and Neuter Clinic, and comprehensive pet support services. Guided by our mission to provide education and resources to achieve and sustain a no-kill community, we envision a future in which our entire community is committed to saving, protecting, and enriching animal lives. Our work is grounded in a no-kill philosophy and fueled by courageous advocacy, compassionate care for both pets and people, and a deep commitment to respect, inclusion, creativity, collaboration, and honesty in all that we do.
