The mission of Astoria Animal Society is to deliver high-quality, low-cost veterinary care, including spay/neuter and wellness services, to increase access, reduce pet overpopulation, and prevent suffering.
Formerly Joey's Elder Paws Rescue's H.E.A.L. Sanctuary, H.E.A.L. (Humanity, Empathy, Animal Love) Foundation, Inc. is located at a bucolic farm in upstate New York. The H.E.A.L. Foundation is committed to reducing canine homelessness, animal cruelty, and shelter euthanasia rates by partnering with and providing funding and resources to 501(c)(3) animal welfare organizations. We focus on rescues that help owner surrenders, long-stay, harder to place senior (6+ years), bonded and pit-bull type dogs in shelters in the NY Metropolitan area and beyond. We provide need-based financial assistance to owners of senior dogs requiring veterinary care, so pets and families can stay together.
Most of our adoptable animals were anything but adoptable when we grab from the shelter. We operate solely on donations and grants, and every dime we receive is spent to benefit the animals.We are all volunteers.
At ACR, we care for over 150 cats across 15 colonies every night, regardless of the weather. Our comprehensive approach includes providing food, creating shelters, and performing Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) to manage and reduce the stray cat population humanely. When we encounter cats needing extra care or a chance at a family life, we nurse them back to health and find them loving homes.

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that rescues dogs from high kill shelters, dog meat farms, and puppy mills in South Korea.We transport these dogs to the United States and find loving forever homes for them.
