Here at Best Friends, home to the country’s largest no-kill animal sanctuary, we understand the special place that pets have in our lives.

We also understand the pain that comes with the death of a pet, as well as the comfort we find in celebrating that life, so we’ve created a special space for you to leave a lasting tribute to honor your beloved companion with an online pet memorial.

A serene place of remembrance

At the heart of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is Angels Rest, the peaceful place of comfort and reflection where we remember and cherish our special pets who have passed.

Here, hundreds of wind chimes ring in memory of beloved pets, carried on the soft breezes of Angel Canyon. It’s where memorial stones — with their touching tributes and keepsakes — pay tribute to the love we hold for our dogs, cats, and other companions.

Honor a pet to find healing

Remembering and sharing are part of healing — and can help to memorialize the unbreakable bond between you and your pet.

Pet memorial pages offer a space where you can create a memorial for your own pet or a grieving pet lover in your life, pay tribute to a cherished animal, or leave a virtual token of remembrance for a friend or loved one’s pet to show your sympathy and support.

When you create a memorial, your pet will also be remembered in an upcoming monthly blessing at Angels Rest, a final resting place for beloved animals here at the Sanctuary.

These blessing ceremonies are a longstanding Best Friends tradition, honoring and celebrating special pets who are gone from our lives but not from our hearts.

The animal sanctuary at the heart of our organization

The largest animal sanctuary of its kind in the U.S., Best Friends Animal Sanctuary has become the heart of a collaborative no-kill movement and a model for the future of animal welfare.

Tucked into the majestic canyons of southern Utah, our animal sanctuary is a place of kindness and compassion unlike any other. It's a safe haven for pets looking for a second chance to get the love and healing they deserve. »

Pets have a special place in our lives and hearts

That’s why Best Friends is working around the country to save the lives of pets in shelters through adoption, fostering, and advocacy.

Every day in shelters around the country, hundreds of thousands of dogs and cats are killed simply because they don’t have a place to call home. But together, we can help save their lives.

You can create a stronger and more compassionate community for both people and homeless pets when you foster, adopt, and advocate for the dogs and cats who need it most.

About Best Friends

Best Friends Animal Society is working to save the lives of cats and dogs across the country, giving pets second chances and happy homes.

Just a few years ago, thousands of cats and dogs were killed in shelters nationwide every single day simply because shelters didn't have the community support or the resources to save their lives. That number is now less than half a million per year, but there’s still work to do to ensure a bright future for every dog and cat in America.

Best Friends operates the nation's largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals and is committed to saving the lives of homeless pets by working with shelters and passionate people like you. Together, we will bring the whole country to no-kill in 2025. Together, we will Save Them All.
