Pet food assistance in Salt Lake City

Giving residents the resources needed to avoid surrendering their pets to shelters is critical to making Utah a no-kill state.

Many local animal shelters and other animal welfare groups in Salt Lake City provide food to residents in need. These pet food pantries not only fill bellies, they also help save lives by providing families with what they need to keep their pets at home and out of shelters.  

That's why Best Friends is supporting our partner organizations in providing low-cost or no-cost pet food to the people and pets in the community. 

We're proud to support both our animal rescue partners and the general public through our donation pick-up program. Donation pickup is available at our Pet Adoption Center on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Our animal rescue partners can pick up from 10:30–11:30am (first come, first served), and the general public may pick up from 11:30am–12:30pm those same days.

How you can help

When you donate to Best Friends, you make it possible for us to deliver the supplies to a partner organization in need. 

Most pet food pantries rely on donations, and Best Friends supports these organizations by providing donated food and supplies. 

To make a food donation, you can order from our Amazon Charity Wish List and have your donation shipped directly to the pantry.

You can also drop off your donation at our lifesaving center in the donation bins near the front door. We also accept open bags of pet food that are taped or sealed securely.
