13 winners of the Best Friends class of 2017
It’s graduation time, and we're celebrating the class of 2017 by giving extra credit to help senior dogs and cats at the Sanctuary “graduate” into homes.
Senior pets are older and wiser than their fellow underclassmen. And though they may be a bit gray around the muzzle, they’ve got a lot of love to give and would like nothing more than to go home this spring.
Don't live near the Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah? No problem. These pets are eligible for a free flight home anywhere in the U.S. or Canada.
The following pets were voted top of their class. They’re all ready for new homes, where their summer jobs could be napping, cuddling, playing or taking their new human for a walk.
1. Best hair: Mocha Too
Look at that fabulous blonde hair! Mocha Too plays hard to get, but it’s just because she’s so gorgeous.
2. Most loyal friend: Perfect Tommy
Perfect Tommy was a shoo-in for his award. He can frequently be found curled up with a buddy, and is does such a good job welcoming all the newcomers to Cat World.
3. Lady’s man: Tiki
Ladies, control yourselves. There’s plenty of Tiki to go around!
4. Best eyes: Knox
Knox wins this one ― no contest.
5. Class clown: Yuma
Yuma will do anything to put a smile on your face.
6. Biggest drama queen: Sonya
Sonya’s likes include being petted when she’s in the mood ― and not being petted when she’s not in the mood.
7. Most athletic: Lotti
Lotti is a state champion at swimming and running around with a toy in her mouth. This girl is likely to be a first-round draft pick for active homes.
8. Best bromance: Grey (senior) and Allen (not a senior)
When he first arrived at the Sanctuary, Allen had a hard time being the new kid from out of town. But Grey introduced him to the popular crowd, and now the two are BFFs.
9. Best smile: Joy
Joy is beautiful inside and out. Need we say any more?
10. Teacher’s pet: Kennedy
Kennedy is such a teacher’s pet. Though, if you don’t happen to be a teacher, he’d still like you to pet him. And never stop, please!
11. Best kisser: Ricki
Ricki is a little bit shy at first, but once you get to know her, you’ll agree that she is awesome at smooching.
12. Life of the party: Edward
You’re never too old to party. Edward was partying before most other Sanctuary dogs and cats were born, and he can still keep up with the younger kids with no problem.
13. Overachiever: Wilson
Wilson makes the rest of us look bad. As the class overachiever, he aced his Canine Good Citizenship test. And that’s no easy feat!
