Cat lovers descend on Los Angeles CatCon and 176 cats are adopted
Once every year, thousands of cat lovers from across the globe come together in Pasadena, California, for CatCon, a convention dedicated to all things feline and featuring the latest, greatest products and ideas for cats and their people.
It was an epic event for both people and cats, thanks to the CatCon Adoption Village, which featured adoptable cats from Best Friends, official adoption partner of CatCon 2019, and three NKLA (No-Kill Los Angeles) Coalition partner rescue groups: Spay/Neuter Project LA (SNP LA), Heaven on Earth and Michelson Found Animals.
By the end of the two-day event, about 176 cats and kittens from the Best Friends Lifesaving Center in Los Angeles and the three rescue groups had found homes. And since it’s kitten season, these adoptions, combined with those from adoption events like CatCon, free up space at shelters for other homeless cats.
Wondering what a day at CatCon looks like? Luckily, Best Friends volunteer photographer Todd Roisman was there to capture all the feline fun.
Best Friends in Los Angeles works collaboratively with animal rescue groups, city shelters and passionate individuals, all dedicated to the mission of making Los Angeles a no-kill city. As part of this mission, Best Friends hosts adoption and fundraising events, manages two pet adoption centers, and leads the No-Kill Los Angeles (NKLA) initiative. Together, we will Save Them All.
