By Best Friends Animal Society

Once again, National Geographic Channel’s series "DogTown" has been nominated for a major award. This time, our members and supporters can help "DogTown" clinch that award and help ignite a big flame of recognition for the work we do at Best Friends.

"DogTown" has been nominated for a People’s Choice Award in the category "Favorite Animal Show." The public determines the winner by vote. You can vote for "DogTown" by going here. From the "Favorite Movie Actor" category page, scroll down to the list of all categories. Select "Favorite Animal Show" from the bottom of the TV list and once that page loads, click on the "DogTown" logo.

Of course, we encourage you to pass the word on, and ask your friends, family, neighbors and colleagues to cast their votes as well.

"DogTown" chronicles the emotional and medical rehabilitation of the dogs who come to Best Friends, providing a poignant look at how Best Friends’ veterinarians and trainers treat and work with the dogs, helping them eventually find their forever homes. "National Geographic Channel is very excited about all of our People’s Choice Awards nominees, and encourages everyone to vote now and vote often," says Chris Albert, executive director of communications for the National Geographic Channel. "We are especially excited for ‘DogTown’ as the People’s Choice Awards will be given out just as we start our new season in January. A big congrats to the ‘DogTown’ cast for all of the amazing work they do."

"DogTown" is competing against four other animal shows for the award, including "Animal Cops," Dog Whisperer," "It’s Me or the Dog," and "Rescue Ink Unleashed."

The People’s Choice Awards will be broadcast live on CBS on January 6, 2010. New episodes of "DogTown" begin in January as well.
