Volunteer with Best Friends nationwide

Can't make it to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Southern Utah? No problem! There are many volunteer opportunities across the country that'll give you the chance to help the animals. Check out some ways to volunteer below.

Volunteer in one of Best Friends' regional program cities.

Best Friends in Utah - Best Friends has been working to save the lives of pets in Utah shelters since 2000, launching the No-Kill Utah (NKUT) initiative in 2014. In an effort to make the state no-kill, we operate the Best Friends Pet Adoption Center in Salt Lake City, which features pets from our Utah shelter partners. Nearby, we also operate two free and low-cost spay/neuter clinics, as well as a kitten nursery, which saves the lives of newborn kittens, some of the most at-risk pets in shelters. Salt Lake City is also home to Best Friends' Strut Your Mutt and two NKUT Super Adoption events per year. To find out more about volunteer opportunities with Best Friends Animal Society-Utah, please contact our volunteer coordinator at utahvolunteer@bestfriends.org.

Best Friends in Los Angeles - including No-Kill Los Angeles (NKLA), launched by Best Friends in 2012 - aims to end the killing of dogs and cats in L.A. city shelters for good. Best Friends operates the NKLA Pet Adoption Center in West L.A., which helps find homes for pets from our NKLA Coalition partners. We also host a Strut Your Mutt event and multiple NKLA adoption events every year. There are so many ways to help the animals in L.A. For more information about volunteer opportunities in the area, please click the Los Angeles tab on the left or e-mail volunteerLA@bestfriends.org.

Best Friends in New York is our newest regional center that is opening this year! For years, Best Friends has hosted the annual Strut Your Mutt event in the city, as well as two super adoption events per year. And since 2014, Best Friends has also operated a foster program in collaboration with Animal Care & Control of NYC. To help boost the lifesaving even more in New York City, in 2016, Best Friends opened a pet adoption center. Located in the trendy SoHo neighborhood, the center lends an extra helping hand to the city's shelters by helping pets from the shelters to find homes. For more information about volunteer opportunities in New York City and the surrounding area, please contact the volunteer coordinator at volunteerNYC@bestfriends.org.

Best Friends in Atlanta - Best Friends Animal Society merged with Atlanta Pet Rescue and Adoption (APRA) on October 1, 2016 in order to save even more lives in the southeastern United States. Best Friends has been working in the region since 2004 when it began collaborating with Lifeline Animal Project. In 2011, Best Friends began a partnership with Dekalb County Animal Services and LifeLine Animal Project to save community cats being killed in the County shelter. In February of 2016 Best Friends launched a community cat program with Cobb County Animal Control that has sustained a save rate of 90 percent. If you need more information about volunteering in the Atlanta area, please contact volunteerATL@bestfriends.org.
