Urge your senator to vote NO on HB 1883.

CAMPAIGN ENDED: Unfortunately, HB 1883 was approved by the state legislature and is headed to the governor for his signature. Thank you to everyone who contacted their elected officials and shared this alert with friends and family. Your voice is so important, and together, we will keep working to make progress for animals in Arkansas.

                         -------------------------

Dangerous legislation that would represent a huge step backward in the fight against puppy and kitten mills is being considered by the Arkansas state legislature.

If enacted, House Bill 1883 will prohibit Arkansas localities from regulating any activity involving animals, which includes restrictions on pet dealers.

If this bill is passed, inhumane pet mills will continue to flourish and consumers will be deprived of their right to know where the animals sold in pet shops really come from.

Nearly 400 cities, counties and states have taken important legislative steps to address the cruelty of pet mills, and this ability should not be taken away. Local communities should be permitted to regulate pet dealers and enact their own appropriate laws without interference from the state legislature.
