Hi, I’m Moe! I’m a recovering shy guy with a pretty impressive glow-up story. When I first arrived, I preferred to keep to myself—but thanks to my very outgoing friend Bruce, I’ve been learning that people aren’t so scary after all. Now I’m starting to seek out attention, enjoy pets, and feel more at home being part of the action. I still take things at my own pace, but I’m getting braver every day. And yes… my ears are doing a little “British Fold-inspired” look right now (long story involving ear mites), but I promise it just adds to my charm. I’m sweet, I’m trying, and I’m only getting better from here. I’m currently in a foster home while looking for my loving home. Best Friends is working to end the killing of dogs and cats in U.S. shelters in part by getting more pets out of shelters and into loving homes.

We’ve come a long way since the first known city reached no-kill in 1994, and now we’re closer than ever to making the entire country no-kill. Of the roughly 3,900 shelters operating in America today, 1,300 of them are not yet no-kill, but nearly half are close with 100 or fewer additional pets to be saved, and we know what to do to get them there.
