Hi, I'm Cookie! I’m a 4-year-old black-and-white collie lab mix with a bright spirit, a soft heart, and just the right mix of brains and sweetness. I love being part of whatever’s going on—walks, playtime, or just hanging out with my favorite humans. I enjoy exploring outside, learning new things, and showing off how smart I can be (treats definitely help my motivation!). I also have a loving side—I’m happiest when I’m near people, getting gentle pets, or leaning in for a little affection. I’m looking for a home where I can be included, loved, and given the chance to shine. I promise loyalty, wagging tail greetings, and a whole lot of heart baked into one sweet “Cookie.” I’m currently in a foster home while looking for my loving home. Best Friends is working to end the killing of dogs and cats in U.S. shelters in part by getting more pets out of shelters and into loving homes.

We’ve come a long way since the first known city reached no-kill in 1994, and now we’re closer than ever to making the entire country no-kill. Of the roughly 3,900 shelters operating in America today, 1,300 of them are not yet no-kill, but nearly half are close with 100 or fewer additional pets to be saved, and we know what to do to get them there.
