How to sign up to volunteer with animals

Volunteers begin with Best Friends in Atlanta by completing their online application. This is followed by doing a virtual volunteer orientation and completing a first day of training.

  2. Select "Start Volunteering" and be sure to check off the path for Atlanta.
  3. Follow the steps to fully activate your volunteer account.
  4. You will receive an automated email after profile completion with details about current volunteer opportunities.


Transport program volunteer opportunities

Best Friends Animal Society in Atlanta works collaboratively with Lifeline Animal Project and other shelters across Georgia to save the lives of homeless pets by transporting them to rescue groups in the north-east to increase their chances for adoption. Sign up today to be a driver, a short-term foster or assist with the daily care and enrichment of these pets before they get on the road to their forever home! Youth opportunities for volunteering

Volunteering with Best Friends in Atlanta can also be a unique opportunity for the pet lover in your family. We accept individuals aged 12-17 to volunteer in our Pet Adoption Center with a signed waiver by their guardian. (Volunteers ages 12-15 must have a guardian with them at all times.)

Community service hours

Best Friends in Atlanta is happy to accommodate individuals seeking to complete court-ordered community service hours at our Pet Adoption Center. Individuals who have misdemeanor charges, including but not limited to, traffic offenses, DUIs, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana are accepted. Community service volunteers must be approved by the Volunteer Coordinator and attend an orientation prior to volunteering.
