Feeling isolated?

Join us to learn how animals can help us featuring Adoptable Houston Pets!

Two-thirds of adults report experiencing social isolation and high levels of anxiety since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to The Pandemic Effect: A Social Isolation Report, a study conducted by AARP Foundation in collaboration with the United Health Foundation. Due to quarantine and social-distancing, social isolation and feelings of loneliness have increased in adults since March 2020.

While loneliness is a risk factor for a variety of health and psychological problems, we know that interacting with animals is something that helps ease loneliness and can bring comfort during stressful times. In fact, animal shelters and rescue organizations across the country have seen adoption rates soar since the beginning of the pandemic.

So, whether you have a pet and are looking to deepen your bond or this pandemic has you longing for social connection the AARP and Best Friends Animal Society have teamed up to bring you a special webinar series focused on the benefits of human-pet interaction and the comfort, joy and companionship only a furry friend can provide.
