Brian tell us.....

What programs and projects do you volunteer with at Best Friends LA?
I find myself participating in dogwalking, dogplaying, dogpetting, doghiking, asking dogs "who's a good dog", telling dogs "it's you!"...

Why do you choose to volunteer with Best Friends LA?
NKLA is an amazing, borderline magical place where derelict dogs are extracted from the shelters, and one bath and a few meds later Presto Changeo a family wants to adopt.  I volunteer because happy pups are pretty great to be around and because I feel personally responsible for getting the big troublemaker dogs out due to my enormous biceps.

How long have you been a Best Friends LA volunteer?
I started March 2016 so it's been ~10 months now.

What type of fun stuff do you do when you're not volunteering?
I'm an economist by trade - my day job primarily entails evaluating the contributions of business units within multinational enterprises.  My favorite extracurricular is taking dogs offsite for hikes, but I also enjoy museums, naps, movies, books, and foods.

Do you have a favorite story to share about an experience volunteering with Best Friends LA?
We had just received a handsome white am staff named Julian and I was going to be one of the first to walk him.  A new friend, how exciting!  I got him out of the center and he lifted his leg, but much to my surprise and delight, instead of #1 he went #2.  The angle of his leg lift was such that he pooped on his own butt! A rich metaphor for life, I thought to myself, this dog gets me.

Do you have any pets?
I don't have any "real" pets, but I often google for dog pics on the internet which is practically the same thing (my favorite search term is: puppy pile)

What others are saying about Brian:
"Brian devotes so much of his time to help staff, other volunteers and of course the dogs, while also being a Golden Circle donor. To say he goes above and beyond would be an understatement. My favorite part about Brian is his enthusiasm and joy for being a part of the team; wish we could clone him. Thank you so much Brian, for all that you do!" - Katie, Lead Pet Caregiver
