Marianne Jarc - Honored June 2019
What BFLA programs/events/volunteer roles do you find yourself participating in?
I walk our NKLA dogs on Monday and Friday mornings and recently I have started taking part in the Adventure Buddies program. I enjoy volunteering at the Super Adoption each year as well as the Clear the Shelters event.
My husband and I just recently spent 3 days at the Sanctuary volunteering at Puppy Preschool!
Why do you choose to volunteer with Best Friends LA?
I have always loved being around dogs and I love being outside and walking. Volunteering with Best Friends LA combines both my loves.
How long have you been a BFLA/NKLA volunteer?
I have been an NKLA volunteer since November 2016.
What do you do when you're not volunteering (career/extracurricular activities)?
I still work one day a week at the Law Firm that I retired from in 2017. I am very involved with my 2 grandsons who are 7 and 9 and who live close by. I also take a conversational Spanish class every week.
Do you have a favorite story to share about an experience volunteering with Best Friends LA? Share it!
My second week of volunteering I locked myself in one of the dog kennels and had to call the front desk for help!
Do you have any pets? Tell us about them!
My husband and I live with our 10 1/2 year old Labrador named Dolce. She is a very sweet girl and the name fits her!
