Pat tell us.....

What programs and projects do you volunteer with at Best Friends LA?
I started out walking dogs, working in the clinic, socializing cats, and acting as a greeter.  I then fed orphaned kittens in the nursery and went on to foster cats and kittens. I am now in the volunteer office helping with clerical duties.

Why do you choose to volunteer with Best Friends LA?
I am impressed by the many volunteer opportunities and the excellent training given before undertaking them.

How long have you been a Best Friends LA volunteer?
I started volunteering in January 2013.

What do you do when you're you're not volunteering?
I am a volunteer Registered Vet Tech in the Wellness Clinic at Fixnation; also at the Spay and Neuter Clinic sponsored by Catnippers.  In addition, I volunteer with Glendale Adventist Hospice.  When I'm not volunteering, I work 2 days a week at the Professional Development Center of Glendale Community College, or am found reading 1 of 10 books a month.

Do you have a favorite story to share about an experience volunteering with Best Friends LA?
Last year there was a kitten in the nursery by the name of "Pirate" that had multiple health issues.  He was 3 months old when I took him home to foster for 5 weeks and ended up adopting him because I was convinced no one could take better care of him than I could.  My husband wasn't too thrilled at first about getting another cat, but then insisted that we name him "Blue". :-)  "Blue" loves boxing matches with our other cat who, by the way, never liked other cats.

Do you have any pets?
We have two cats -- a 13-year-old named "Leonard", and 1-year-old "Blue".

What others are saying about Pat:
