Help save homeless pets in TX

Shelters near you need help to save more lives. In 2021, nearly 61,245 dogs and cats were killed in animal shelters across Texas, but together with your help, we’re changing that.

Best Friends is working with animal welfare organizations and stakeholders statewide to save every pet who can be saved and reach no-kill through Texas by 2025. Your local shelter is counting on your help. Now is the time to get involved and make a lifesaving difference.

Best Friends goes big in Texas

Best Friends created community cat programs at the Harris County shelter, which led to an increase in lifesaving for both Harris County and Houston city shelters. In 2021, the two largest shelters in Houston achieved a 90% save rate. We are working with the Greater Houston Coalition to save lives through adoptions and keeping pets with their families. We are also launching a new foster program in West Texas.
