NOTE: The legislation previously filed under House Bill 1588 is now House Bill 1657.

All dogs are individuals. Yet local governments in Missouri are currently allowed to ban or restrict entire breeds of dogs at any time. This is an outdated and ineffective approach to promoting public safety and it infringes on your personal property rights, too.

If enacted, House Bill 1657 will prohibit Missouri municipalities from regulating dogs in a breed-specific manner, keeping the focus of dangerous dog laws where it belongs: on behavior.

This legislation will protect your rights as a responsible citizen to own and care for whatever breed of dog you choose.
