Kansas City Chiefs' Derrick Nnadi teams up with Best Friends
This Super Bowl champ is wearing his heart on his feet to raise awareness for homeless pets.
He may be known on the field for winning three Super Bowl championships, but off the field, Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi is well known for his love of animals. Having sponsored the adoption fees of over 500 dogs at KC Pet Project, Derrick’s collaboration with Best Friends is taking his love of animals to the next level.
On November 29 and December 8, Derrick will wear a pair of custom cleats to raise awareness for the animals of Best Friends as a part of the My Cause My Cleats campaign. The campaign, which encourages NFL players to raise funds for their favorite nonprofit organizations through a fan-based auction of their custom cleats, also enables other donation opportunities for the players’ favorite charities.
Derrick’s love for homeless pets, and his dog Rocky, inspired him to make a difference in the lives of pets in shelters everywhere.
“I feel like any dog can change. Any dog can be a good dog. I really just love the mission that Best Friends stands for. Every dog deserves a chance.”
Bid to win Derrick’s cleats and become an MVP to homeless pets everywhere
Together, we're working to ensure every pet gets a second chance, but we still have much more work to do. Every 90 seconds, a dog or cat is killed in a shelter simply for the lack of a home. But with your help, and the help of champions like Derrick, we will Save Them All.
Derrick’s custom-designed cleats honoring Best Friends will be auctioned off after his games on November 29 and December 8, with all proceeds benefiting the Derrick Nnadi Foundation, which strives to assist youth and families in need in the Virginia Beach and Kansas City communities.
You can also donate directly to the animals of Best Friends. So whether you’re a Kansas City Chiefs fan or an NFL fan with a soft spot for animals, your gift will go straight to work saving the lives of cats and dogs across the U.S., providing homeless pets with the extra help and healing they need to find loving homes.
Tune in to watch Derrick play while wearing his cleats in honor of Best Friends on Friday, November 29, at 3 p.m. ET on Amazon Prime and Sunday, December 8, at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC Sunday Night Football.

About Best Friends
Here at Best Friends, we believe that every dog and cat deserves the love, safety, and comfort of a home.
Whether their home is a big house with a fenced yard or a cozy apartment — or it’s a community cat’s safe outdoor space — every pet deserves to have a safe place to call home. That’s why we’re working to save the lives of cats and dogs all across the country, giving pets second chances and happy homes.
Just a few short years ago, cats and dogs were killed in staggering numbers in this country simply because shelters didn't have the community support or the resources to save their lives. That number is now less than half a million per year, but there’s still work to do to ensure that every dog and cat in America finds a safe place to call home.
Best Friends also runs the nation’s largest no-kill animal sanctuary and works collaboratively with a network of more than 5,000 animal welfare and shelter partners, plus community members around the country, to save pets’ lives. Together, let’s bring them home and Save Them All.
We'd love to see your pet living their best life! When you share your favorite video or photo of your pet at home, we’ll use it to inspire others to bring their best friend home.
